All she wanted for her birthday today were her new brother and sister.
How does next week sound, sweetie?
Whatever might her back up plan be? Well, all things Tangled, of course! She is very serious about her love of Rapunzel and the movie Tangled.
So first, we planned the cake. And after several recent cake failures, I had decided to outsource all five kids’ birthday cakes this year.
Sweet Girl was the first to benefit from what may have been the smartest party decision I have ever made. The cake looked great, tasted divine, and caused me no stress! Brooke, you are the best!
We had a family party last Saturday night, complete with cake and presents. Here she is showing off her new Tangled doll and a beautiful handmade dress from my mom (a.k.a. Grammie). Oh yeah, the other figurine is one that I had a little girl. It is a replica of the China Shepherdess that sat on the mantel in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s house when she was a girl.
And then, today is the big day. Six years ago, my first daughter was born. Last year, I “celebrated” by revisiting the hospital. We decided to avoid to the ER today. Rather, we’ll enjoy some of her favorite pizza and more birthday cake tonight.
And then, it’s home to do more packing!
I love you, Sweet Girl. I always have and I always will.

Sweet. Ashlyn has the same Rapunzel doll. Got it for her birthday, too!
